Hemp clothing has been around for many years, in fact many thousands of years, but it's not burlap anymore. In fact our 100% hemp hand loomed items are really world class in feel, breathability, texture and much more.
Hemp clothes are perfect for travel because of the wrinkle-free qualities, in addition to the anti-fungal and anti-bacterial qualities of organic hemp, so they don't absorb body odors.
Hemp clothing has come a long way in the past 15 years. It's like nothing you've ever worn. Cottons and other fabrications pale in contrast to the qualities of sustainable hemp. We test our clothes in many shows and festivals each year, ranging from street fairs to upscale events like Int'l boat shows, home and garden shows, flower and garden shows, and of course, all four Green Festivals. Receiving feedback from customers year-round is invaluable to us, so we're able to deliver better hemp clothing to you.
The company's founder and owner, Richard Dash has an extensive backround in the apparel business in retail and manufacturing. He formed an apparel company in Honolulu in the 1970s that manufactured women's accessories, swimwear, tops, and started/managed/owned the Lobster and Roses retail stores in Honolulu and Maui. In 1985 Dash put his apparel business on the back burner and returned to his previous profession conducting international tours.
International travel has given Dash a unique perspective on the plight of third world people. He has seen firsthand the living and working conditions in these countries, and is very sensitive to manufacturing conditions. Dash Hemp works only with sweat-free labor in manufacturing their Hemp clothing.
His passion for Hemp began in 1997, when Dash attended the WHEE Festival in Oregon. That visit convinced him that Hemp was the Fiber of the future for apparel, and indeed, could eventually play a major role in the apparel industry in the U.S.
He immediately became involved in the Hemp Movement, and continues to design and manufacture some of the most unique garments in the Hemp Industry. High quality, versatility, and attention to detail are his primary concerns. Dash Hemp knits exclusive fabrics for use in their garments, and uses only sweat-free contractors to sew the apparel. Dash constantly pushes his contractors to provide better and better working conditions, and positive incentive plans for these contractors and their workers.
