The 10x13 Crew Cab is based on the same profile as the 10x12 Expedition but is 15” longer
There are no floors in our tents. There is a nylon snow flap that is approximately 12".
Instead people use various types of tarps, nylon and/or canvas under the sleeping area of the tent. In the area of the stove we generally dig down to ground level. When the snow is deep it leaves a sleeping platform in the back of the tent.
The pole system is an internal sawhorse configuration with 2 welded aluminum spiders as a union for the ridge pole and the 4 legs. The legs and the ridge pole are 3/4" Easton aluminum tent poles that break down to a package about 28" long and 5" in diameter. The pole sections are bungee corded together.
Spiders in pole system:
The spiders have a loose fit when the frame is put together. This allows for slight movement in many directions. This movement allows the tent frame to conform to the irregularities of the ground.
The stovepipe exits the tent at approximately a 45° angle using an adjustable elbow. This ensures correct stove distance from the side of the tent and places the end of the stovepipe further away from the tent to reduce the possibility of sparks falling on the tent.
We custom make our stove jacks. The gasket material in the stove jacks is rated to 1100° F continuous contact. We have 5” and 3” stove jacks.

What is the difference between the Expedition and the Hybrid?
The Hybrid has more interior space. It is a little bit heavier and a little more involved to set up than the Expedition. The roof of the Expedition has a steeper pitch roof and so it sheds snow a little bit better and it is a little better in wind, but on either of those issues the difference is not truly significant.
What model tent should I buy?
Comparing Expeditions and Hybrids of the same size, you will find the Hybrid to be a roomier tent. Choosing a tent is based primarily on how many people will be using the tent most of the time. Example: 1 person, sometimes 2 = 8 X 9 Expedition; always 2 people, maybe a 3rd person once in a while = 8 X 9 Hybrid.
When setting up in snow there is no staking involved. Snow is shoveled on to the snow flap which is turned out. The guy out lines are tied to available brush trees, etc. If used in warm weather, the flap is turned to the inside. The tent can be staked to the ground with stake loops sewn in the tent. A tarp is laid inside over the flaps that have been turned inward to seal the tent to the ground.
